Our “Alternatives for Angels” (respite care) program underwrites the opportunity for parents or legal guardians of medically fragile children to receive up to 12 hours of respite care services per month from the caregiver of their choice selected from an approved list. Those hours are intended to allow for a break from the continuous vigilance in care required by these children in order for parents briefly to engage in other necessary activities, desired leisure pursuits or just time to rest. Caregivers from the approved list have been screened, are CPR certified, and are familiar with special needs children and their requirements regarding communication, feeding and hygiene and should be able to demonstrate these proficiencies to the satisfaction of the parents.
